U3A Showcase A selection of "Matchbox Theatre" scenes by Michael Frayn

Malvern Cube: Orange Room

Date & Time: Wednesday 12th November at 2.30pm
Tickets: Free Donations Welcome

The Third Agers are members of the University of the 3rd Age Drama Group and will perform, with script in hand, a selection of short scenes from Michael Frayn's "Matchbox Theatre". There will be laughter, bewilderment and reflection as the scenes demonstrate the joys and perils of being human and the complexities of how we communicate.

Does confusion arise when you overhear the conversations of others? Can people say many words but also say absolutely nothing? Do patients cause illness, and where is the jam in Waitrose? These and other questions may, or may not, be answered.

Prepare to be amused by the foibles of how others talk, but perhaps you’ll find a grain of truth about yourselves.

The Night Ali Died by Christopher Sainton-Clark

Malvern Theatre Studio

Date & Time: Wednesday 12th November at 7.30pm
Tickets: £12

The Night Ali Died is the second multi-award winning solo thriller by Christopher Sainton-Clark (A Year and a Day).

Ali is wanted dead by a vicious London gangster and is placed under police surveillance for the protection of him and his family, yet for some reason, on one night, Ali decides to sneak out into the night and leave his family behind, sparking a bloody domino effect that ricochets through the sleepy streets of Norwich.

Through the brutal accounts of Ali, a henchman, a detective and a mob boss, find out what on earth happened on the night Ali died.

The Night Ali Died premiered at Prague Fringe 2025 and won three awards in its first ever run including a vote as audience favourite. Described as ‘like watching a Tarantino film onstage’ by Theatreandartsreviews.com, its cinematic style and bold and punchy soundtrack took over the Prague festival with an electric buzz.
